Why do pearls peel off? How to avoid this situation?
Natural pearl is composed of the pearl core and multiple nacres in a concentric circle structure. (Nacre was formed in the mother of pearl by being wrapped by pearl liquid secreted by the mother of pearl. )Factors such as friction and chemical exposure might cause the outer nacre to fall off.
Shell bead was manually polished from deep-sea giant seashells to enhance the luster. HEFANG uses coated shell beads in jewelry processing. Friction, high temperature and chemical exposure may cause the coating on the surface to fall off or scratched.
Therefore, keep both natural and shell pearls away from friction, collision, high temperature and chemical exposure; and it is also recommended to avoid wearing them during exercising and swimming
Care tips
Keep your jewelry out of direct contact with chemicals (such as perfume, cosmetics, cream, bleaching water and brine); don’t wash hair accessories with water; avoid scratching and please don’t wear jewelry while swimming or bathing and be sure to take off jewelry before physical exercise for avoidance of damages.
Cleaning tips
If your jewelry happens to be stained by fingerprint or dirt, it is recommended to gently wipe it using a piece of dry soft cloth (cotton cloth, non-fluffy cloth) and avoid overexertion which would cause the jewelry surface to be scratched by dirt.
It is recommended to clean your sterling silver jewelry with a piece of silver polishing cloth, which can instantly restore the luster of silver jewelry, but cannot eliminate scratches.
Pearls cultured in freshwater should be gently wiped with a soft brush or a piece of dry soft cloth. Do not use alcohol to wipe shell pearls.
